They are slippery too.

Teach a man to catch worms and perhaps
he will be fortunate enough
to find some worms.

Or perhaps not. Perhaps
they will elude him.
Because worms are crafty.

But give a man a worm, and he can split it in two!
And then he will have
two worms!

I'm asking nicely now:
Won't you give a man a worm?

What do you think?

new court justice is against the splitting of worms, especially the gay ones

Give a man an oh-too-clever poem, and he will be pretentious and annoying for fifteen minutes.

Teach a man to write oh-too-clever poetry, ... um, wait... and he'll, uh, be a joy and a thing of beauty forever?

Am I silly to read some political/economic parable in this? Am I wrong to like the parable? Or just silly?

you did ask nicely, but no: a cruel man who's less crafty than a worm will get no gift from me, even if he is a parable, belly down, digging through the dirt, crying softly. nosirreee.
