"Want to smell something wonderful?"

That's what this lady at the table next to mine just asked her gentleman friend.

"Yes! Dear lord yes!" I want to shout.

'wonderful' is relative.

i enjoyed your high society use of 'gentleman friend.' it was so edith wharton. "...for it would be inconceivable to his hosts that a gentleman travelling without luggage should wish to spend the night, and distasteful to them to propose it to a person with whom they were on terms of such limited cordiality as Beaufort."

or, smell something 'wonderful.'
