Not a snake

You say I'm a snake but snakes
move with purpose, right?

They lead with their head. Reach
with their mouth. Draw a
dry belly line with an impulse dotting
each turn.

Have you ever seen a snake tumble? Or trip? Or twist?

Not a snake.

What do you think?

Who called you a snake? I've always thought of you as more of a monitor lizard. Or maybe Gila monster.

i liked 'dry belly line.'

as a british commando during the cold december of 42, i witnessed a snake tumble, trip and twist as we raided the bordeaux harbor. that snake, like the german s.s., was no match for our limpet mines.

SCB: I agree. I am more like a monitor lizard. For example: my relatively high metabolic rate (for a reptile). And my sensory adaptations that benefit the hunting of live prey.

IO: lovely.
